Deputy John McGuinness has welcomed the announcement that Kilkenny County Council has allocated a sum of €450,000 as an increase in housing maintenance for local authority houses.
“This funding is much needed and will go a long way in terms of managing the necessary repairs that need to be carried out in Council houses, many of which are old with poor out of date electrics, substandard windows that need to be replaced and general maintenance issues that need to be resolved,” said Deputy John McGuinness.
In proposing the budget that included this allocation, Cllr. Andrew McGuinness said, “Many local authority tenants have been crying out for the Councils maintenance service to be improved. There are houses that need substantial improvements simply because they are old and the local authority, as landlords, need to carry out. The funding is there now to do so.
